ACI Ductwrap 16 – 24 – 32 – 48

Ductwrap is a flexible duct insulation formed from uniformly textured, glasswool fibres bonded with a thermosetting resin to from lightweight, flexible blankets.
It provides excellent thermal and acoustic insulation qualities.
We are made in blankets at various thicknesses 16, 24, 32 and 48. These are available unfaced or faced with factory applied reinforced aluminum foil vapour barrier.

 Compressive Strength

Our Ductwrap Insulation has excellent resilience and recovers to its nominal thickness even after prolonged compression.

Product Application
It designed for use as external lagging of airconditioning ducts, both duct in hot and cold condition. DUCTWAP Insulation is faced with aluminum vapour barrier. It is wrapped around the duct walls and held in-placed by metal pins and galvanized steel strapping band. It is used for :
– Energy conservation
– Temperature control of airconditioned space
– Noise reduction of equipment
– Personnel protection
– Condensation control

Moisture Absorption

When tested in atmosphere of 65% relative humidity at 20°C in accordance with British Standard 2972-1975, the moisture content of Asia Pacific (Formerly ACI) DuctWrap Insulation IS 0.1% by volume.

Thermal Conductivity

The thermal conductivity (k) is 0.037 W / mK at 20°C mean temperature (0.257 BTU-in/hr.ft² °F at 68°F mean temperature). Values of thermal conductivity is obtained from the following graph which is derived from test performed by the C.S.I.R.O., Division of Applied Physics, in accordance with ASTM C177-76.

Service Temperature

The maximum service temperature for DuctWrap Insulation is 340°C

Alkalinity

When tested in accordance with British Standard 3958 Ductwrap Insulation is slightly alkaline, pH9

Early Fire Hazard

Glasswool products are tested in accordance with B.S. 476 Parts 5,6 and 7 with Class “O” Fire Rating under the Building Regulations Section E 15. Early Fire Hazard Test (unfaced) in accordance with Australian Standard 1530 part 3-1982 and Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., UL 723, Sixth Edition exhibits the following

Sound Absorption Coeficient
Ductwrap Insukation has the following sound absorption coefficient when tested in accordance with AS1045-1971 by the Reverberation Room Method and when tested in accordance with ASTM C384-1958 and AS1935-1976 by the Impedance Tube Method.
Test was carried-out with no air space behind the samples, result were based on test reports from C.S.I.R.O. or other N.A.T.A. registered laboratories.

Installation Recommendation

– Install DUCTWRAP in dry state and keep the surface to be covered clean and dry.

– Butt the insulation edges firmly together at all joints to prevent heat leaks.

– Wrap the insulation around the outside of the duct and hold it in position by one or combination of the following :

  1. Galvanized wire mesh with edges laced together
  2. Galvanized steel strap band at 600 mm centers with galvanized angles under straps to protect corners
  3. Impalling insulation on spot welded metal pins or adhered pins to the outside face of the duct at 300 mm to 450 mm centers in both directions, then use clips to secure insulation to pins.

-Ensure that all longitudinal joints are on the underside of the duct.

-Seal all longitudinal and transverse joint with 75 mm wide pressure sensitive, vapour impervious tape. Seal penetrations and repair punctures in vapour barrier with similar material.
